A Message from the President
Gwen Craig, President,
Irving ATPE
I hope that you are having an
excellent summer and getting plenty of rest and recreation. I want to
thank Patrick Martin for being such a great president this last year and
I look forward to serving as your president for the 2009-2010 school
year. Your officers and I are looking forward to Leader U and I am
especially excited because we are taking nineteen leaders this year. I
would like to welcome six new leaders attending Leader U for the first
time; Stephanie Cottrell, Kyle MacDougal, Angela Newby, Terrance
Wallace, Ulyses Childs, and Teresa Zarate.
Leader U is in Austin and is
scheduled to begin Thursday, July 9 and end Saturday, July 11 around
noon. We will be leaving early on Thursday morning so that we can make
the trip to Austin in time for the 2:30 General Session. Your officers
and I are looking forward to a great time of planning and learning more
about ATPE together.
Another activity that is
scheduled this summer is the New Teacher Orientation which is scheduled
for Wednesday through Friday, August 12-14 at Nimitz High School. As an
association, we will be allowed to recruit on Thursday and Friday at
that event. We need volunteers to man our booth and the wheel that we
will allow the new members to spin as they join ATPE. If you have some
time to volunteer for one of those days, please call me at 972-790-6925

Another summer activity will be
our campus representative luncheon that we will have some time in July
or August to train our campus representatives for the upcoming
membership campaign. I hope that you have a great summer. If you need

Leader U Delegation Includes
"First Timers"
Irving ATPE is once again developing new leaders by
taking a large delegation of "first timers" to Leader U in Austin on
July 9-11.
This year's delegation includes: Jeri Bailey,
Deborah Bellew, Ulyses Childs, Stephanie Cottrell, Larry & Gwen Craig,
Cheryl Drews, Connie & Kristin Kilday, Darla Liesman, Kyle MacDougal,
Karen & Bruce McCoskey, Angela Newby, Sharon Phares, Gary Schepf, Pam
Slaughter, Dora Venne, Terrance Wallace, and Teresa Zarate.
